Senior Christmas Activities for Your Loved One!
Christmas and the holidays are right around the corner! Make sure your loved one celebrates the holiday season! More than 1 in 10 older people, experience depression (Health Direct, 2024). Furthermore, older adults are more likely to develop depression living alone. Also, more than 3 in 10 people living in residential aged-care develop depression (Health Direct, 2024).
Furthermore, seniors need daily activities and routines to keep them engaged. Follow along our twelve days of Christmas activities that we have planned for Seniors that live in Bakersfield and Kern County! Learn about our senior friendly activities to keep spirits bright!
Keeping Spirits Bright! 12 Days of Senior Friendly Christmas Activities!
1. Send Christmas cards to your loved ones!
2. In addition, decorate their room with their favorite holiday decorations.
3. Then, bake them their favorite cookies or cake. There is nothing better than a home-cooked meal from those you love!
4. Also you can, sing carols or read holiday stories together!
5. Furthermore, get your exercise in and take a walk around the block to look at your neighborhood’s Christmas decorations!
6. In addition, share with them your favorite Christmas memory and make ornaments with your favorite memory on them to keep your loved one’s memory sharp!
7. Another idea is to call them and video chat with them!
8. Next, play their favorite Christmas songs and tunes.
9. Then, host Christmas themed game nights.
10. Another idea, can be to write in a gratitude journal.
11. Host a Christmas movie night in and gather up your favorite snacks!
12. Lastly, have them decorate a gingerbread house to use their cognitive skills, when decorating their gingerbread house!
